It buggers me a little that the drive seems to be off he center of mass... (But for now i dont really get how the mag drive does exactly produce thrust...) But besides of that i really like that thing ^^ (Actually i like everything you make for COM )
Finally someone caught that! I was so happy with that design. Yes its a giant sphere. About 3 stories tall. Most of the chairs are actually suspended off of the platform running through the bridge with panels wrapping around them.
yeah i just have the eye for it man lolol. i love the design alot man, i imagine being on the bridge would be an awesome sight. im guess it looks a little something like this [link] except on a larger scale?
This is not really a siege ship. This is actually a pretty standard setup for ships in CoM. Siege ships (or Kinetic Destroyers/Cruisers/etc.) actually devote a much larger portion of their hull to Kinetic Rifles. In fact, more often than not 1/2-2/3 of their length is taken up by the massive kinetic rifles that comprise their principle armament. Stromheart is a conventional Fleet Cruiser. Albeit, she is the only fleet cruiser in the galaxy to sport two forty-inch kinetic rifles. On the other hand, a variant of Stomrheart - the Iron Storm - will be a true Kinetic Cruiser and carry 100-inch kinetic rifles. That my friend, will be worthy of the title siege ship.
Mass Drivers use a gravitational potential to fire a round. Essentially, they create a wall of gravitational energy at the back of the gun to throw the round out of the barrel. Kinetic Rifles use gravity coils around the rifle itself. This creates a dynamic gravitational potential (anti-gravity behind, gravity ahead) to push and pull the round and sling it out. This allows for a greater impartation of kinetic energy thanks to higher achievable velocities. That being said, the rounds tend to be smaller than traditional axial mass drivers because of the energy costs. However, Kinetic Rifles make up for it in the added energy they deliver thanks to their higher velocity and the extended range they gain thanks to that muzzle velocity.
I love the more angular nature of the ship's details - great work ! Whenever I look at this ship I recall the episode of BSG when Pegasus attacks Cylon Baseships with its front cannons - it would be a perfect with the Stormheart's guns
