King Robert-Class Superdreadnought WIP 3 by ChroniclesofMan King Robert-Class Superdreadnought WIP 3 by ChroniclesofMan
Update to the mighty King Robert. Finally settled on how her engines will look (this is the first large design to break from the Impeller design my ships have always had in favor of the new Grav Repulsor Tech I will be writing up on). Hope you all enjoy.

Question about ship design, are all vessels, particularly warships, have to be linear like most of the vessels we have seen of the major powers?

There are variants at lower classes like cruisers and destroyers, etc. However, larger ships are inevitably shaped as you've seen them. Some are fatter and shorter, bulkier, etc, but for the mechanics of the series they should be long/linear/etc.

The flagship of His Grace's Navy (HGN) would be. The galaxy fears the Kingdom, and right they should!

Thanks mate. I'm coming along much better.
WOW!!! That's beyond impressive. The King Robert then is a strategic weapons platform that can also mount strike operations. Just like our aircraft carriers. As far as the Grav Rifle, does the Alliance still have one or did you discontinue that idea? And your redesigning "my" frigate????? lol I like it!!!!!!! I think you should keep the overall aesthetics of it like you did here with the King Robert and just update it. She is a superb looking ship.

I'll probably make it a corvette, frigates are actually growing up. And Yeah, the Robert is sort of a huge strike vessel. Its the war machine of the Kingdom of Eirangard. Glad you like her.

The Alliance is loosing the grav rifle but keeping the huge laser that was introduced on the Archangel.

You talked about how Directed-energy weapons are not very effective against shields has that changed?

Impressive. She looks like the only contender for the Alliance's Legendary Class. The new engine design is very different. The idea of another star nation having better technology design/innovations is very realistic, at least in sci-fi. Sorry haven't been in the forum much but had knee surgery and the recuperation is long but nothing a jarhead can't handle. Anyway, keep up the excellent work mate. Carry on
Oh by the way, are you ever going to finish the frigate?

Robert is actually about 500m longer than Legendary and about 130% more massive. She's a beast of a warship. Furthermore, unlike the Alliance's Standard/Heavy missile payload, the Robert is loaded down with Heavy Missiles alone, simplifying her missile payload while still giving her a huge punch. Pair that with the huge Grav Rifle and you have all sorts of trouble in her.

Sorry to hear about the Knee Surgery but glad you are recuperating. I am sure that takes a heck of a long time, as a former Biomedical Engineer, I know the Knee is one hell of a thing to fix.

As for the Kingdom's frigate, that is going back to the drawing board. Not really satisfied with it.

Looks great overall, but the engines are the best - I absolutely love their shape !

Thanks mate. The engines were the toughest part. I tried many of concepts before I settled on those. I think now, looking at it, the grey's may be too dark, but that's an easy fix.

I'm eager to learn more about this new propulsion technology.
The appearance of armemements at the rear is already noticeable... The propulsion module seems smaller than the previous generations.

There's actually some unique things about the Robert's propulsion system that is done that way to provide better protection thanks to its armor. In fact, Alliance ships and the way they do their propulsion systems are actually somewhat weak. I will be detailing Robert's "Protected" Propulsion systems when I do the final drawing.

Gotta ask - what is the blue circular artifact in the center of the view?

The large blue circle is the Kingdom's newest weapon, the Grav Rifle. A huge gravity based weapon, it uses stressed and focused gravitational energy to impart huge amounts of force on an enemy ship. A single hit from this massive weapon could knock the shields of a superdreadnought with the rifles doing the rest of the work to tear the unshielded warship apart. Very dangerous at close range.

i was wondering what kind of range would it have? if you could use the grav rifle on the gravitational field of a planet you could kick start an ice age, or at least severe weather problems by delivering the cold dry air of the upper atmosphere to lower elevations. i was thinking of the movie "day after tomorrow" with dennis quaid. or, if you could use it to neutralize gravitational fields and you applied it to a planet's atmosphere it would be like poking a balloon with a needle. not that i'm advocating the use of such things, but there are those who would have no such scruples using it like that even though it's against their equivalent of the geneva convention.

Very royal. I still don't understand most of the ship detailling along the starboard and portside, but I guess it's turrets or missile launchers.

I look forward to seeing a larger image of this magnificent monster as you progress on it! I am working on a "mini-monster" of my own inspired by capital ships of the COM uiniverse.

Are those force fields covering what look like drop bays? What kind of support craft can this class of vessel support?

They are force fields covering the drop bays. And the support craft will be quite vast. Just haven't settled on what yet.
