Dagger-Class Cutter Redo by ChroniclesofMan Dagger-Class Cutter Redo by ChroniclesofMan
A new take on my old Dagger class, the little sister to the old Katana. The Dagger is a cutter. Used by the Alliance as a small policing vessel, fleet scout, and light weight ground support ship, the Dagger prides itself on its relatively long legs, high maneuverability in both space and in the atmosphere, and powerful ground support capability.

Armed with a dual barrel variant of the Katana's venerable 155mm quads, the Dagger has teeth for a cutter making even tough corvettes fear her. With small missile magazine but dense missile salvo, the Dagger has a tough bite even if she doesn't have long legs in her missile fight. Additionally, she favors close in laser weapons for defense against incoming missiles and for fighters compared to the mixed armament favored by the generation one Rapier-Class.

Sharing equipment and the Rapier's common command section, the Dagger is meant to be both easily operable by trained Rapier operators while also minimizing costs and maintenance times by sharing equipment with its larger cousin.

Specs coming soon.

While you are waiting for Renown, I hope you enjoy this design!

Not going to lie, I prefer the old "wingy" design of the Dagger.

That being said I must point out the attention to detail in this picture and after comparing it with the old design, the amount of progress that has been made over the years. (Especially in the shading department)

I think the wingy one was too much like a fighter and not enough spaceship. I am past the space plane phase. It didn't work for NASA and it won't for me. :)

The stalking leopard of the deep black void, with about 2 times the bite and claws it looks like. =)

Wow a baby sister to the Rapier & the dual barrel 155 is a different but awesome approach to heavy weapons. On the silhouette, I noticed 2 smaller thrusters? Or are they something else?

On the top view aft? Those are just thrusters for precision movement thought they do have a turret-esque feel. On the side view there are the two point defense lasers.

The Dual 155 keeps the tonnage down while still giving it the flexibility to use both. While a single quad 155 would have been less tonnage, it would have also limited where you could point those 4 guns and risk killing all offensive kinetic weapons if the quad barrel was knocked out.
